Fog Peak is a spectacular alpine wedding location high above the Matukituki Valley, with sweeping views across braided rivers, deep valleys and the rugged mountain ranges surrounding Mt Aspiring National Park.
Your helicopter flight from Wānaka carries you beyond the town and into the heart of the Southern Alps, where the landscape opens beneath you before landing on a remote mountain ridge. From here, the views stretch across the valley in every direction, creating a dramatic and unforgettable setting for your vows.
Depending on the season and conditions, snow may remain on the higher slopes, adding another beautiful element to the landscape. Whether the mountains are dusted in white or surrounded by the softer colours of the warmer months, Fog Peak offers a true New Zealand alpine wedding experience.
From arranging your helicopter flight and coordinating your celebrant, photographer, flowers, hair and makeup to assisting with your New Zealand marriage paperwork, I personally take care of every detail so you can relax and enjoy the experience from beginning to end.
What your day looks like
Your day begins at your accommodation, where you’ll enjoy a relaxed morning getting ready for your wedding.
Your hairstylist and makeup artist will come to you, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy the excitement of the day. Before you get dressed, your photographer will arrive to capture the details of your wedding, including your dress, flowers, jewellery and those quiet moments before your ceremony.
Once you’re ready, you’ll travel to the helicopter base, where your pilot will welcome you before taking you on a spectacular scenic helicopter flight to Fog Peak.
After landing, you’ll have time to take in the breathtaking mountain scenery before exchanging your vows overlooking the Matukituki Valley. Following your ceremony, you’ll enjoy a relaxed photography session together while exploring this remarkable alpine location.
After your time on the mountain, you’ll return by helicopter before continuing your celebrations however you choose.
From beginning to end, your wedding day is carefully planned so you can simply relax, enjoy the experience, and focus on celebrating your marriage together.

Frequently asked questions
What does the package cost?
The Fog Peak package starts from NZ$10,500 for about three hours, with everything listed included — flight, celebrant, hair, makeup, flowers and photography. A second landing can be added on request. The NZ marriage licence fee is paid separately to Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Can we marry here year-round?
Yes — Fog Peak is one of the landings that works across the seasons, subject as always to conditions and the pilot's approval on the day.
What happens if the weather stops the flight?
We move to a beautiful backup plan at no extra charge — an alternative landing or a ground ceremony — and the helicopter portion is refunded if we can't fly.
Where should we stay?
Plan to stay in Wānaka — the flights depart from the Wānaka base, so being local keeps the morning relaxed and the timing easy.
Is a helicopter wedding safe?
Yes. I work only with CAA-certified operators and hugely experienced alpine pilots, and every flight carries full insurance. The pilot always has the final say on the day — if conditions aren’t right to fly safely, we simply move to a beautiful alternative rather than take any risk. Your safety comes first, always.
