Wanaka’s Hidden Alpine Gem
Imagine lifting off from Wanaka, the mountains rising around you as the helicopter weaves through the valleys of Mt Aspiring National Park. Within minutes, you’re landing at Fog Peak – a breathtaking alpine location overlooking the West Branch of the Matukituki Valley, where snow often lingers and silence feels ancient.
Here, time slows. The world below disappears, leaving only you, your vows, and the endless panorama of peaks and braided rivers stretching toward the horizon.
Why Couples Choose Fog Peak
Fog Peak is a favourite for couples dreaming of a serene, snow-kissed ceremony high above the world.
In winter, it transforms into a breathtaking white wonderland – soft snow, still air, and golden light for photographs.
Spring often brings a light dusting across the ridgelines, keeping that alpine feel alive, while summer can still reveal a patch or two of snow on nearby peaks.
By autumn, the mountains turn gold and the valley glows with rich evening colour.
Every season brings its own magic, making Fog Peak a timeless choice for both adventure and intimacy.
As a fully DOC-approved heli-landing site, this location combines untouched wilderness with the reassurance that everything is legal, safe, and carefully managed.
